Prof. Hein J Wellens
Born on 13th November 1935, started investigating cardiac arrhythmias in late sixties. He showed that it was possible to not only to initiate and terminate the clinically occurring cardiac arrhythmias but also to localize the site of origin of the arrhythmia and to discover its mechanism. In 1973, Dr Wellens was appointed Professor of Cardiology at the University of Amsterdam. He became the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at the Academic Hospital of the New Maastricht University, where he created his school of arrhythmiology educating more than 130 cardiologists from all over the world. He wrote or co-authored 580 peer-reviewed articles, 252 chapters and was the author or (co) editor of 19 books in cardiology.

Prof Martin Green
Dr Green graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1975 at which time he was awarded the KJR Wightman Prize in Internal Medicine and the Cody Silver Medal. He completed training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Ottawa, finishing his Cardiology Fellowship in 1981. He then did further postgraduate training in Maastricht, The Netherlands in Cardiac Electrophysiology under the direction of Prof. Hein JJ Wellens as a Fellow of the Medical Research Council of Canada.

He returned to Ottawa to start the Arrhythmia Service in May 1983. Since that time the Arrhythmia Service has grown substantially and has produced world class clinical arrhythmia care and research. Dr Green’s main interests are arrhythmia education for physicians with a special interest in interpretation of ECG and EP tracings. He is currently Chair of the Education Committee for the Canadian Heart Rhythm Society.


Dr. Behzad Pavri
Dr. Behzad Pavri is Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Electrophysiology Fellowship Program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Pavri completed medical school at the University of Bombay, Seth G. S. Medical College. Subsequent training included Internal Medicine residency at Harlem Hospital in New York, Cardiology fellowship at Columbia University in New York, and Electrophysiology fellowship at Harvard University in Boston. Dr. Pavri spent 7 years at the University of Pennsylvania as Assistant Professor of Medicine before moving to Thomas Jefferson University in his current position. Dr. Pavri has numerous peer-reviewed publications, is actively engaged in clinical research, and has won awards for student, resident and fellow teaching

Dr Dipen Shah
Graduated from BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad, then obtained a Dip. of the National Boards in Cardiology from Chennai and practiced Interventional Cardiology at Apollo Hospitals. Thereafter worked for 6 years with Pr. Haissaguerre in Bordeaux, France, practicing advanced ablation techniques and performing clinical research. Area of research: Atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation. Since 2002, am running the Cardiac EP unit at the University of Geneva and concentrating on ablation of chronic AF.
